From the pulpit
Two Beggars
"But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."Luke 16:25
Two men lived at the same gate. One had everything this world could offer and never needed to ask anyone for anything. The other lay at that gate covered in sores, hoping for crumbs from the rich man's table. In Luke 16 Jesus pulls back the curtain on what happened to them after death, and it turned everything around.
In this message from the pulpit of Carolina Baptist Church, Dr. Herb Adams preaches on the rich man and Lazarus. One begged on this side of eternity and found mercy. The other never had to beg here, and now begs forever for a drop of water. Dr. Adams shows that the Lord never told a lie to make a point. Heaven and hell are real, and death is no respecter of persons. Then he presses home the privileges God gives us while we are still living: showing kindness and love to one another, saying yes to the Holy Spirit, going to God's house, holding the Word of God, and gathering to pray. He closes with a plain warning that there is no second chance after the grave.
Now is the day of salvation. Use the privileges God has given you while you still have them, and settle what you will do with Christ.
